COGA DBA Teaching Session & Tournament a learning experience

by Andy Swingle

Good turn out today! I'm tired. Im looking at running another tourney in October at COGA where prizes will be available to veeryone -- not just "noobs." Dave Barr has vowed to have his new Alexander Imperial army painted by next tourney. He has 9 months to get'er done! Mike Demana, Phil, Dylan and Derek (even though you were doing refresher) -- thanks for coming out and helping me. Jeff Fletcher from the DBM guys came out...and won! I learned a few obscure rules by running this, thanks to Mike. And I learned what it means to run a tourney. I ran it very lax because there were a lot of newer players. Thank you guys for being patient. I'm open to constructive criticism -- I'm sure there are things I can improve on.

Cheers! Here are the results:

1. Jeff Fletcher, Philistine, 3-0, 19 pts.
2. John Pittenger, Later Hoplite Greek (Siciliot), 2-1, 14 pts.
3. Mike Demana/Derek Wagener*, 2-1, 12 pts.
4. Jim Flynn, Ancient British, 2-1, 12 pts.
5. Phil Wells, Warring States Chinese, 1-2, 12 pts.
6. Dave Barr, Medieval German, 1-2, 11 pts.
7. Carson Sheir, Later Hebrew, 1-2, 11 pts.
8. Dylan Fraser, SubRoman British, 0-3, 7 pts.

* When Derek showed up after the second round, Mike bowed out to give Derek a chance to play some games.
