The DBA Tournament at Battle at the Crossroads 08

1st round action in the 16-player "Pyramid Style" DBA Tournament at Battle at the Crossroads 08

An enjoyable 'Afternoon at the Crusades' at Crossroads '08

by Tom Graves

We had a great turn out in Cambridge for the 2008 Battle at the Crossroads. I think everyone had a good time and we will reprise our pyramid campaign format next year at BatC with an early dark ages pyramid campaign. Look for the list of legal armies in the next few weeks.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming out, especially Tim and Kevin for donating prizes (which was a big su-prize!). Thanks to Jeff for the convention and the space and the great food. I encourage everyone in the W. Pennsylvania, WV, and Ohio to come out to this fabulous one day tournament.

The CinC won first two rounds of the campaign and the first sub general won their first round to go into the 2nd round as CinC. Congratulations to Larry Chaban and Mike Demana for being the Commanders to lead their teams to victory!

Without further delay, the results:

Pyramid A

Phillip Wells: Early Crusader - 2-1,17 pts.
Andy Swingle (first Sub General): Mamluk Egyptian, 2-1 - 14 pts

Khwarizmian Cavalry and Elephant

The theme for the tourney was the Crusades: Here Mike Demana's Sassanid Persians take on the role of the Khwarizmian "steppe horde" with cavalry and one elephant.

Third round action with four-on-four matchups

3rd Round joined together the Round 2 opponents in a massive, four-on-four matchup. Here Mike Demana's Khwarizmian led force takes on Tim Ryan's Georgian-led alliance.

The battlefield teems with troops as the Khwarizmian led force closes in on the outnmbered and lighter armed Georgian one. Both third round matchps ended with the commanders in chief being killed early in combat. Tim's brave Georgian CnC was impaled on Dave Welch's Lusignan Cypriot spears.
