Midianite Arabs (Early Bedouin I/6c)
The Midianite Arab army and camp arrayed
The Midianite Arabs, or Early Bedouin list I/6c, are one of the raider
nations that plagued the early Israelite kingdom. The earlier versions,
"a" and "b", are enemies of the New Kingdom Egyptians,
so I painted this army up as part of my Biblical project. I did enough elements
to field all versions, though this pictured version would be the one I usually
played in tournaments. This is mainly because the novelty of using the 3
Camels elements, which are a bit of a rarity in DBA. Besides, the Essex
Midianite Arab figures with two riders astride the camel is just too cool
to pass up!

I used an archer to represent one of the two riders getting down off camelback
to take a shot at the enemy.

Although this version of the list uses only 4 stands of
Auxilia, I had to paint up six to field the earlier versions, as well. I
mixed in a few archers on the stands to give them a more varied look.

There is an extra stand of Psiloi here, as well, to field
the earliest version. Most of the stand are slinger poses that I'd painted
earlier as mercenaries for my New Kingdom Egyptians. The one bow armed stand
being the newer one.

The camp was constructed to be a rocky gorge that a successful
raid was leading a captive and donkey laden with loot through. The one guard
is seated atop a stone watching the path through the gorge. He is an extra
rider that I didn't use from the 2-rider camel figure. I thought he looked
perfect perched atop the stone.
