Post-tax day Big Battle tourney big success
by John Loy
The Tournament was held April 19 at the New Song Church. We had 20 players,
including four who travelled from Virginia. Here are the results:
Early Bracket (6 players):
- 1) Andy Swingle - Alexandrian Imperial, 3-0, 239 points
- 2) Dylan Fraser - Later Hoplite Greek Phokian w/ Thessalian Ally, 1-2,
167 points
- 3) John Lawitzke - Polybian Roman w/Numidian Ally, 1-2, 112 points
- 4) Dave Welch - New Kingdom Egyptian, 1-2, 103 points
- 5) Daniel Moehn - Alexandrian Macedonian, 1-2, 98 points
- 6) Thomas Moehn - Marian Roman, 0-3, 24 points
Middle Brackett (6 players):
- 1) John Loy - Mithridatic, 3-0, 260 points
- 2) Bob Boggs - Early Imperial Roman w/Commagene Ally, 2-1, 182 points
- 3) Jeff Fletcher - Alans, 1-2, 134 points
- 4) Tim Ryan - Ancient Brits w/ Early Imperial Roman ally, 1-2, 116
points
- 5) Joe Merz - Early Imperial Roman, 1-2, 114 points
- 6) James Love - Late Imperial Roman (East), 0-3, 28 points
Later Brackett (8 players):
- 1) Mike Stelzer - Early Lombard, 3-0, 244 points
- 2) Jason Stelzer - Late Crusader/Med German/ Feudal French, 2-1, 213
points
- 3) Sean Spencer - Later Crusader, 2-1, 205 points
- 4) Roy Martin - Feudal Spanish, 2-1, 184 points
- 5) Derek Wagener - Ottomans, 1-2, 108 points
- 6) Alan Spencer - Syrian, 1-2, 102 points
- 7) Eric Vang - Seljuk Turk/Ghaznavid/ Ghurid, 1-2, 98 points
- 8) Nathan Spencer - Welsh, 0-3, 42 points
I credit my success with two things: First, my opponents had horrible
dice when it mattered -- especially Tim. Second: Demana was not in the room
to jinx my dice! One further point; Mike Stelzer lobbied really hard to
be in the Later bracket...makes you wonder.
Special thanks to the Spencer brigade for making the trek from Virginia.
