Tournaments

One of the things GLADBAG does to support the Ancient miniatures hobby and spread the word about our fast-play, simple Ancients rules set, is to hold tournaments. We hold them at all of the HMGS Great Lakes conventions, with quite a variety being run at GL's flagship convention, Advance the Colors in Springfield, OH, as well as at Origins in Columbus. And speaking of variety, our members put on a kaleidoscope of different formats for the tournies, too -- standard ones with regular size armies, to double size ones, through triple size (36 stands) "Big Battle" tournaments. We run matched pairs, historical battles, whirlygigs, campaign tournaments and more.

One thing that runs common throughout the tournaments is the level of good sportsmanship. Visitors from other areas of the country often praise our events for their friendliness, and remark how welcome our players make them feel. We are always ready to teach a beginner the game, so seek us out and join one of our tournies -- we'll likely be glad to loan you an army, match up with someone who's a good teacher, and let you see what DBA is all about.

Normal Yearly GLADBAG Tournament Schedule:

This is just a sample schedule, and we do add other tournaments or special game days throughout the year, at the initiative of or members.
