The thunder of Behemoths, the twang of bowfire,
and the incoherent chanting of the arcane arts was heard across the fields
of Cincinnati this June as "HordesParty'06" made itself known.
This semi-annual Hordes of the Things (HOTT) tournament had 10 players show
with some very impressive and well-painted armies in hand. As before, players
played as many rounds as they were able to get in before time was called
(the tournament itself lasted a little over three hours), and the winner
was determined by comparing win/loss records, points from elements destroyed,
strongholds occupied and generals captured.
Congratulations are in order for Jenny Torbett, whose Hobbits swept the field with only a single loss, winning the day.
The standings at the end of the day:
1. Jenny Torbett (Hobbits), 4-1 (47 points), 2 Generals
2. Rich Hartley (Orcs), 3-1 (50 points), 3 Generals
3. Eric Luczaj (Spring Centaurs), 2-1 (32 points)
4. Tom Graves (Black Hoof Clans), 3-2 (38 points), 1 General
5. Mike Demana (The Wolfpack), 3-2 (33 points), 1 General
6. Eric Kronk (The X-Men), 2-2 (37 points)
7. Jack Shaw (Alien Bugs), 1-3 (24 points)
8. Mike Cole (North American Forest), 0-4 (33 points), 2 Generals
*9. Zach Meunier (Winged Aves), 1-1 (12 points)
*10. John Meunier (Autumn Goblins), 0-2 (4 points)
* NOTE: John and Zach had to leave early and only got two rounds in each, falling short of the three round minimum. So, they got shifted to the bottom, but it was great having them there to play!
